Greatest Inspiration

Greatest Inspirations - Swami Vivekananda

Swami
Vivekananda
(1863 - 1902) - From Naren to Vivekananda
A touch from Ramakrishna
Paramhansa was enough for Narendra to realise his hidden divinity

"Every
man is potentially divine…the quest to realise the divinity within
me and to view God in every living soul."

Swami Vivekananda’s Teachings

See
God in all

This is the gist of all worship - to be pure and to do good to others.
He who sees Siva in the poor, in the weak, and in the diseased, really
worships Siva, and if he sees Siva only in the image, his worship is but
preliminary. He who has served and helped one poor man seeing Siva in
him, without thinking of his cast, creed, or race, or anything, with him
Siva is more pleased than with the man who sees Him only in temples.

God
is within You

It is impossible to find God outside of ourselves. Our own souls contribute
all of the divinity that is outside of us. We are the greatest temple.
The objectification is only a faint imitation of what we see within ourselves.

Persevere
in search of God

To succeed, you must have tremendous perseverance, tremendous will. "I
will drink the ocean," says the persevering soul, "at my will
mountains will crumble up." Have that sort of energy, that sort of
will, work hard, and you will reach the goal.

Trust
completely in God

Stand up for God; let the world go.

Love
of God is essential

Giving up all other thoughts, with the whole mind day and night worship
God. Thus being worshipped day and night, He reveals himself and makes
His worshippers feel His presence.

Tribute to Swami Vivekananda by Other Greats

Mahatma
Gandhi

"My
homage and respect to the very revered memory of Swami Vivekananda….
after having gone through [his works], the love that I had for my
country became a thousandfold."

Jawaharlal
Nehru

"His
whole life and teaching inspired my generation….he brought his great
spirituality to bear upon his patriotism and thus his message was
not confined to India only, but was for the whole world. I pay my
homage to his memory."

Rabindranath
Tagore

"If
you want to know India, study Vivekananda. In him everything is positive
and nothing negative."

Netaji
Subash Chandra Bose

"He
was so great, so profound, so complex. A Yogi of the highest spiritual
level in direct communion with the truth who had for the time being
consecrated his whole life to the moral and spiritual uplift of his
nation and of humanity, that is how I would describe him. If he had
been alive, I would have been at his feet."

Romain
Rolland

"The
thought of this warrior prophet of India left a deep mark upon the
United States . . . . I cannot touch these sayings of his . . . without
giving a thrill through my body like an electric shock. And what shocks,
what transports must have been produced when in burning words they
issued from the lips of the hero!"

Christopher
Isherwood

"[Vivekananda
is] one of the very greatest historical figures that India has ever
produced. When one sees the full range of his mind, one is astounded."

William
James

"The
man [Vivekananda] is simply a wonder for oratorical power . . . the
Swami is an honor to humanity."

Quotes by Swami Vivekananda

  • Choose
the highest ideal and live your life upto that. Look at the "ocean"
    and not at the wave.
  • That
which tends to increase the divinity in you is virtue, and that which
tends to increase brutality in you is vice.
  • He
who sees Shiva in the poor, in the weak, and in the diseased, really
    worships Shiva.
  • Purity
in thought, speech, and act is absolutely necessary for anyone to be
religious. Purity is strength. Spiritual truth is purity.
  • The
ideal of the man is to see God in everything. The real evil is idleness
which is the principal cause of our poverty.
  • Everyone
should know that there is no salvation except through the conquering
    of desires.
  • Death
being so certain, it is better to die for a good cause.
  • Religion
is the manifestation of the Divinity already in man.
  • Your
    country reqires heroes, be heroes!
  • To
me the very essence of education is concentration of the mind, not the
    collecting of facts.
  • Each
    soul is potentially divine.
  • Religion
is the idea which is raising the brute unto man, and man unto God.
  • All
power is within you; you can do anything and everything. Believe in
    that.
  • Work,
work, work - let this be your motto.
  • Now
the only way out is to listen to the words of the Lord in the Gita.
  • Be
a hero. Always say, "I have no fear".
  • Struggle
hard to get money, but don’t get attached to it.
  • Feel
that you are great and you become great.
  • To
devote your life to the good of all and to the happiness of all is religion.
Whatever you do for your own sake is not religion.
  • At
my will mountains will crumble up. Have that sort of energy, that sort
of will; work hard, and you will reach the goal.
  • It
is those foolish people who identify themselves with their bodies that
piteously cry, ‘Weak, weak, we are weak’.
  • Keep
the motto before you: "Elevation of the masses without injuring
    their religion".
  • Man
never progresses from error to truth, but from truth to truth, from
    lesser truth to higher truth.
  • Avoid
all weakness, for weakness is sin, weakness is death.
  • Never
talk about the faults of others, no matter how bad they may be. Nothing
    is ever gained by that.
  • I
shall inspire men everywhere until the world shall know that it is one
    with God.
  • Let
us go forward and do yet greater things.
  • The
more selfish a man, the more immoral he is.
  • Give
to the weak, for there all the gift is needed.
  • Knowledge
    exists, man only discovers it.
  • Give
up all desire for enjoyment in earth or heaven.
  • Be
courageous. Do not try to lead your brethren, but serve them.
  • Be
the witness and do not react, only thus can you be happy.
  • None
can help you, help yourself; work out your own salvation.
  • Be
not afraid of anything. You will do marvellous work.
  • Try
    to love anybody and everybody.
  • You
have to gwo from the inside out. None can teach you, non can make you
spiritual. There is no other teacher but your own soul.
  • Know
it for certain that you are in everything.
  • Go
on bravely. Do not expect success in a day or a year.
  • Let
all your nerves vibrate through the backbone of your religion.
  • Do
not talk much, but feel the spirit within you.
  • If
you want to be spiritual, you must renounce.
  • Your
way is the best for you, but that is no sign that it is the best for
    others.
  • Renounce
the lower so that you may get the higher.
  • Where
can we go to find God if we cannot see Him in our own hearts and in
    every living being?
  • Your
work is to serve the poor and miserable, without distinction of caste
    or colour.
  • Help
another because yu are in him and he is in you.
  • The
poor, the illiterate, the ignorant, the afflicted,…let these be your
God. Know that service to these alone is the highest religion.
  • If
I am in the dark, let me light a lamp.
  • The
earth’s bravest and best will have to sacrifice themselves for the good
of many, for the welfare of all.
  • Every
duty is holy, and devotion to duty is the highest form of worship of
    God.
  • We
only get what we deserve. It is a lie when we say, the world is bad
and we are good. It can never be so.
  • You
will understand the mighty strength of Krishna better with a little
    of strong blood in you.
  • It
is struggle against nature and not conformity to nature that makes man
    what he is.
  • Each
work has to pass through these stages - ridicule, opposition
    and then acceptance.
  • First
there should be strict integrity…Secondly, entire devotion to the
    cause
  • The
will is not free - it is a phenomenon bound by cause and effect - but
there is something behind the will which is free.
  • You
fail only when you do not strive sufficiently to manifest infinite power.
  • Whatever
you do, devote your whole Mind, Heart, and Soul to it.
  • Whatever
you think, that you will be. If you think yourselves weak, weak you
will be; if you think yourselves strong, strong you will be.
  • Never
mind failures; they are quite natural, they are the beauty of life -
    these failures.
  • He
works best who works without any motive, neither for money, nor for
    fame, nor for anything else.
  • The
new religion says that he is an atheist who does not believe in himself.
  • Neither
seek nor avoid, take what comes.
  • You
should work like a master and not as a slave; work incessantly, but
do not do a slave’s work
  • Believe
that the soul is immortal, infinite and all powerful.
  • Even
if the order be wrong, first obey and then contradict it.
  • Be
a hero. Always say, "I have no fear".
  • Our
first duty is not to hate ourselves; because to advance we must have
faith in ourselves first and then in God.

My New Resolution..

Great Day for me (/my future) ….why you know?
Well, for the first time I made resolution …;)

Here I go …
yesterday evening some of our batchamates (you can say ‘bevarse gang’)
have decided to go to TCS and have fun…
Basically we went there to play Basket-ball, but it all went like this ..

Bond(Pradeep),Java (vamshi), darling (dheeraj), don (prasad) and
me were the first to reach TCS campus.

As soon we went there , we found two of juniors (Putty and Surya) were
already busy ,playing tennis. We were all new to that game …i guess none
of us touched the racket till today… so just thought of giving a try..

Its really a cool and tough game …and I found it really difficult one to play.
For the first 15 mins …i cudnot even put a right ball into the court …:(
Tried …tried …tried …..

then I asked my (to be) coach (thats putty) for help …he told me how
to hold the racket and how to do the service ….

thats really worked (after trying 100 times :D ) …thanks ra putty!!

Its really the toughest game I ever saw/played…Then i thought its not the
game for us ….

After my hand started refusing, we moved to basket-ball court …

and then volley-ball …we formed two teams …
team:1 Don, Darling , Yashu and Teja
team:2 Java, Bhaari, Bunny, Bond and Me

we played three games …Don’s team won two games and we won one game.
It was realy nice to play after a long gap …
Though it was long gap , we didnt forget the basics (having fun while playing)

Had lots lots of fun …:D

and then disperse ….

After coming to room I realised how tough and hard the game (tennis) is
….and it forced me to take a brufin tablet …:D
It really made me to learn that game …I got to really learn that thoughest game (tennis) …to make myself tough :) ..

So, Iam planning to spend my weekends as much as possible by playing tennis :D

let us see ….

Bevarse style of welcoming new year

This new year eve was a memorable day/night for all our gang members.
Well, the planning of celebrations started long back when our venky
(Player of the semister for the year) announced that he would be coming
for the new year to hyderabad.By knowing this, all the non-hyderabadis
wanted to come to hyd . So we have started making arrangements for the
new year day celebrations. There were hundreds of mails on this topic -
how to celebrate the new year beginning. My friends and Me started
collecting the information (mostly from Times Of India Daily News Paper)
about all the parties happening for the new year.

Everyday I had to collect the ads and post them to our bevarse group.
And there goes lots of discussion on these ads. And some people came up
with their own ideas like our prakash suggested a plan that includes our
DJ.MUFASA’s program.

well , in the mean time, Babai (from bangalore) and Lalli, Karr, God from
chennai arrived in hyd. accommodation for them was provided in our flat.
When they came to our flat in the morning i was in london attending my
nature-call activities. But when i heard that our GOD has come ,
i had to stop all the activities to take the blessings. Well, it went on with
a hug from lalli, shapam (curse) from our babai, blessings from our GOD
(msv) and a smile from our SAINT (karr)…

I got myself ready for the office and asked them to come to praveen’s room
(near our office). So that I can meet them there. Then I went to office and
was there for only five minutes and from the sixth minute on i was in
zorro’s room. Well…the room was already crowded with our Bond (pradeep), Boss (PBGCS), Dad (Vasu), Bokka (varma) and Item bhai
(Jayesh).

After one hour those ppl from chennai & bangalore joined us in zorro’s
room. Everyone was very happy to see the other guys after a long time.
And the fun has started with the stuff available in Boss’s system.
Thanks to Dad for providing all those ….

and then we moved out to have lunch, it was our lalli’s request to go to
some restaurant where he can have lots of chicken stuff. So, we had to
choose Fish-Land, ameerpet. As usual, lots of items …and our lalli was
very much satisfied with the items (Naatu Kodi Pulusu, kaunsu Pitta Pulusu,
Nellore Royyala Pulusu and Peethala (crab) Curry.

Then, lalli, dad, babai and me went to Hyd-Central to buy a pant for
our lalli, though we were there for one and half hour, lalli was busy with
the selection and i was busy with catching all those colgate smiles..

And in wain, we had to leave the hyd-central to join the remaining gang.
When we went there, we were surprised to our old friend,Mr.Rowdy
(ravisekhar) …and the same excitement and shouts continued.

All the guys are enjoying by telling their experiences (karr-tsunami,God-dhol’s aak-paak games,..etc).

Count down started , but the party venue wasnt decided. In the mean
time, the ulti bevarse gang (rowdy,item,bokka..etc) left the room. They
went to play all the games (volleyball, basketball and tennis) at TCS.

So,we the remaining people decided to go to some party, atlast we had
choosen the SNOW-WORLD party 2005.

So,we the remaining people decided to go to some party, atlast we had choosen the SNOW-WORLD party 2005.

Lalli and me started early to take the passes, we were there by 7:00PM.
To our surprise we found some of our seniors there, thought that its gonna
be another iiit-days party. We had to wait there for 30 mins for others to
join us.In the mean we wanted to get the feel of the surrounding.so me
and lalli went in.The stage was arranged in a huge underground area
(which is modeled like a cave).Actually that was built for a go-carting
ground which is supposed to be asia’s biggest go-carting complex.

so after 30 mins , our bevarse gang joined us.

Here I have tell you one thing …when we were very much disappointed
after knowing that singles (i hate to call myself a stag) are separated from
the couples. Then me and lalli wanted to have a resolution for this 2005.
Well, the resolution is that one of us shud try hard to get a good female
friend (need not be a gal friend). So that the gal has another good friend
(gal) ,this would make us to go to parties without any hurdles ’stags not
allowed’.

———–to be continued—————

Oracle C++ Call Interace (OCCI)

Though Pro*C is one of the most frequently used API for C/C++ developers, I didnt like it,as it creates lots of confusion while implementing or code reading in the project. The basic fundaa of Pro*C is …
First we create proc files (.proc/.pc) which contains C++ code with embedded PL/SQL code in . And then we have to compile it using pro*c compiler (you get it with oracle) ,and then will generate a C++ file. During this process,
huge chunks of code is inserted (in place of each PL/SQL statement).

This is all tedious process …and Iam sure that one will hate to read these C++ files.

and after going through all this ping pong pain, I was moved to new project. Here our requirement is to built interactive application .

So , started hunting for new API ,which is developer friendly …
…and this is wat I found …OCCI — awrapper over OCI.

Oracle C++ Call Interface (OCCI) is an application
program interface (API) that provides C++ applications access to data
in an Oracle database. OCCI enables C++ programmers to utilize the full
range of Oracle database operations, including SQL statement processing
and object manipulation.

OCCI provides for:

  • High performance applications through the efficient use of system memory and network connectivity
  • Scalable applications that can service an increasing number of users and requests
  • Comprehensive support
for application development by using Oracle database objects, including
client-side access to Oracle database objects
  • Simplified user authentication and password management
  • n-tiered authentication
  • Consistent interfaces
for dynamic connection management and transaction management in
two-tier client/server environments or multitiered environments
  • Encapsulated and opaque interfaces

OCCI provides a library of standard database access and
retrieval functions in the form of a dynamic runtime library (OCCI
classes) that can be linked in a C++ application at runtime. This
eliminates the need to embed SQL or PL/SQL within third-generation
language (3GL) programs.

Benefits of OCCI

OCCI provides these significant advantages over other methods of accessing an Oracle database:

  • Provides OCI functionality
  • Leverages C++ and the Object Oriented Programming paradigm
  • Easy to use
  • Easy to learn for those familiar with JDBC
  • Navigational interface to manipulate database objects of user-defined types as C++ class instances

Functionality of OCCI

OCCI provides the following functionality:

  • APIs to design a scalable, shared server application that can support large numbers of users securely
  • SQL access functions,
for managing database access, processing SQL statements, and
manipulating objects retrieved from an Oracle database server
  • Datatype mapping and manipulation functions, for manipulating data attributes of Oracle types

NOTE
This API is similar to JDBC-ODBC API.
Same terminalogy and syntax is used here .
Connections, Result Set, execute functions …etc.

a beautiful drawing program ….Dia

I know you are one among the dirty guys who hate (to the height) the drawing program of windows word application…right?

Here is a beautiful program to work on ur diagrams.

Dia is a gtk+ based drawing program released under GPL. It is much like the commercial windows ‘visio’. And the most important advantage of this program is its use is not restricted to only computer engineers. Every professional (can be a civil engineer, network engineer, mechanical engineer,..etc) can make use of this tool to get his work done.

The following are the different categories supported in this tool …
Assorted , Chemical Engineering ,Chronogram, Circuits, Network stuff,
ER Database Models, Sybase Data Models, Flow Charts, Civil Engineering,UML,SDL,Map,Isometric,FS,Pneumatic/Hydraulic, Logic,Ladder,
Electric,Cisco Related stuff..etc.

It is also possible to add support to new shapes by writing XML files, using SVG subset to draw the shapes.

And another advantage of Dia is ..it has huge list of different formats (to which you can save the image).

for further details ..check
